(CAMPBELLSVILLE, KENTUCKY)--- The Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program of the Cabinet for Health & Family Services recently conducted an annual survey at Taylor Regional Hospital.
TRH scored 50 out of a possible 50 points. Additionally, TRH scored at 5.00 for each of the ten individual standards which include test protocols, policy and procedure, equipment, test area, data submission, hospital data monitoring, specific data monitoring, contact and consultation, parental consent and information and annual staff training.
“We are very proud of our ability to ensure that every child born at the Taylor Regional Hospital Women’s Center receives a thorough hearing screening,” says Margaret McVay, RN, Director of The Women’s Center. “This early intervention has been proven to detect hearing problems that may be corrected at a young age before it becomes a problem.”
For the past 7 years, all newborns at TRH have been given a hearing screening prior to release. The hospital began the screening program 2 years prior to the state requirement and has always scored in the top 95th percentile.
