Hospitality Van
TAYLOR REGIONAL HOSPITAL TO OFFER
HOSPITALITY VAN SERVICE TO COMMUNITY

Taylor Regional Hospital will soon begin offering van transportation to eligible patients in the community who are coming to TRH for medical services, according to hospital CEO, Jane Wheatley.   “Through the generosity of our community, we were able to raise funds to support this new service at our Gala in 2006.  We received the van through a grant from the Lake Cumberland ADD District and we will now be able to fund a driver along with transportation expenses,” says Ms. Wheatley.

Eligibility for these services will be determined when the patient is being scheduled for the test or treatment at their physician’s office.  Medicaid patients will not be eligible for this service as they are assisted through other agencies.  This van is not wheelchair accessible, therefore all patients must be completely ambulatory.  “There are many patients who receive weekly medical treatments that have difficulty finding transportation,” says Cindy Rose, Director of Public Relations & Hospitality Services.  “In addition to transporting patients to the hospital for testing, we will also be transporting patients to Rehab Services and the Cancer Center.  We think that we are meeting a community need.  This service will begin in April 2007 on a part-time basis.  If the need is there, it is certainly possible that this could be a full-time service in the near future.”
